PNG Weightlifting team set for the Pacific Games
The PNG Weightlifting Federation today announced its final (19) nine-teen member squad consisting of (9) nine females and (10) ten males for the Pacific Games.
Seven (7) members of the team are currently in training in Noumea while the other (12) twelve will join them when they leave for Noumea on the 31st of May.
President for PNG Weightlifting Federation, Sir John Dawanicura is very confident in the team and he’s looking forward to winning a good number of Medals.
“We have done so well in other international games and for this Pacific Game, I’m looking at winning at least 17-20 gold medals.”
“The team is training hard and they’ll be leaving for Noumea soon for further training and hopefully all these training will prepare them well for the Pacific Games” said Sir Dawanicura.
Meanwhile, the Weightlifting Federation will be using the Pacific Games as an avenue to make selections for the upcoming Common wealth games in India.
