United States Expresses Sadness at the Death of the Honorable Edward Natapei of Vanuatu

U.S. Embassy, Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. The Embassy of the Government of the United States of America has expressed its sadness at the death of the Honorable Edward Natapei, former Prime Minister of the Republic of Vanuatu. The Embassy noted that the Honorable Natapei was a distinguished leader of his country and a good friend of the United States. During his career he served his country with distinction in a number of high ranking positions. His leadership in the region and beyond contributed to enhanced cooperation in the Pacific, including with the United States. The Embassy has extended its condolences to the family of the late Honorable Natapei and to the Government and people of the Republic of Vanuatu.
