PNG Hunters go down to Townsville Blackhawks 26 - 12
The Papua New Guinea Hunters went down to gallant Townsville Blackhawks outfit with score of 26 - 12 infront of a large crowd at the Jack Manski Oval. The home side was too strong in defence and in attack for the Hunters. The Blackhawks were first to score through Zac Santo after a classy back-line move. Lui did not find the uprights and the home side led 4 - 0. Zac Zanto scored his second try again to take the lead to 8 - 0 after Lui missed the kick.
The Hunters regrouped and fought back with a nice ball movement that saw Adex Wera scored at the corner. Zemmings added the extra and the Hunters trailed 8 - 6.
Tom Humble crossed over for the Blackhawks to take the lead to 14 - 6 into half time.
In the second half, the home side scored first through Santo to extend the lead to 18- 6. Hunters replied with a try through Adam Korave to stay within reach with 18 - 12 score.
Zac Santo scored his fought try to further extend the lead to 22 - 12. Moses Pangai put the icing on the cake to book a grand final spot with 26-12 win on full time.
The PNG Hunters have a chance to play the winner of East Tigers verses Ipswich Jets next week.
