120,000 students sit Grade 8 Exams

About 120,000 grade 8 students throughout the country have sat for first National exam this morning which is the English Paper 1 or the Written Expression paper titled “Writing letter”.
The Written Expression paper was a much talked about paper earlier this year by primary school teachers after picking up a lot grammatical errors in the Mock exams.
According to Ward Strip Primary School invigilator Mrs Talawan Kaliya, they have encountered a lot of pidgin terms and mobile phone slangs in the previous Written Expression Exam and also in the recent mock exams from the current students.
“The teachers have picked up those weaknesses during the mock exams and they have done their part in correcting the students and they’ve prepared them well for this day”
“It is now up to the students to execute what they have learnt and the title for this year’s paper is timely as we want to prepare students well in writing formal letters when seeking for employment after leaving school” said Mrs Kaliya.
Meanwhile, the grade eight (8) students will be sitting for their last paper on the Thursday this week.
