Foreigners conducting illegal Business in Oro Province : Juffa

Authorities in Popondetta including the Governor, Gary Juffa have found a shop that was serving sub-standard food and expired items.

The inspection by the Governor revealed that 90-percent of the foreign workers did not speak a word of English and are likely occupying positions illegally.

There was evidence of expired goods, low quality good sold at inflated prices, and food cooked in unhygienic kitchens using filthy utensils.

The surprise visit to the Asian owned shop came after the Oro Provincial Executive Council raised concerns of the public about the food served at the shop.

Mr Juffa who was accompanied by a Health Inspector found substantial anomalies in the quality of goods sold, confirming the complaints he had received from the people.
He ordered that the company be fined and review visas and work permits of the owners.
Mr Juffa also found that non of the owners spoke English and their permits claim, they are providing training for locals.

This inspection has prompted Governor Juffa to begin an exercise in the new year to start cracking down on foreign owned shops in Popondetta. Meantime, a report of the recent inspection will be sent to Migration and Labour departments.
