Former PINA boss, journalist confirmed as FijiFirst MP

Former Pacific Islands News Association (PINA) boss and veteran journalist Matai Akauola Niumataiwalu has been confirmed as the latest member of parliament for the ruling FijiFirst Government.

Akauola confirmed that he will not be resigning his role as a media specialist for the Oceania National Olympic Committees (ONOC)

He has also confirmed that he has received confirmation from the Fijian Electoral Commission.

“I now await confirmation from the Speaker of the House and I am ready to offer my experience and be sure to assist government in moving our country forward.”

Akauola replaced the then Minister for Employment, Productivity and Employment relations and now President of Fiji, Major General (retired) Jioji Konousi Konrote.
