Nature Park thanks Community
Port Moresby Nature Park has announced it will remain open every day over the Christmas public holiday period to give thanks to the community for their support over the year.
As many businesses will be closed it will be a welcome relief for parents and families who are looking for ways to keep the kids entertained over Christmas. The Nature Park’s Kids Discovery Corner Playground, café and souvenir shop would also be open each day.
General Manager, Ms McGeorge said “This year the Nature Park continued to break records with over 120,000 people visiting the Park.”
“This included 15,000 students participating in our school excursion programs and over 4,000 tour-group tourists.”
The Nature Park’s staff reflected on the achievements this year including the Park’s playground, arguably now one of PNG’s best play areas, new animal exhibits and infrastructure upgrades as well as its role as the 2015 Pacific Games Official Tourism Partner.
Ms McGeorge was quick to point out that the successes of the Nature Park were due to the funding support of NCDC and sponsors support, visitation from the community and the dedicated of the Park’s staffs.
As a charity Ms McGeorge thanked all those who have believed in the Park and noted that the Capital City was a better place for having a world-class facility that was available to all. She also noted that there were much costs in operating a facility of its kind so now more than ever she hoped that the community would continue to support the Park so it could continue to deliver on providing exceptional recreational experiences, educational programs and conservation and research work.
Port Moresby Nature Park will be open every day including Christmas, Boxing and New Years Day from 8am with last entry at 4pm. The Nature Park is located between POM National High School and UPNG. Enquiries can be made on 326 0248 or 326 0258
