Micah Not Familiar With New Role
Ben Micah today said he was not surprised by recent cabinet changes, which included his ministerial shift from public enterprises to petroleum and energy minister.
“It is not a surprise, prime minister did consult with me and not just last week – this consultations have been going on for sometime,” minister Micah said.
Though not surprised, ironically, Micah says he is yet to fully understand the dynamics of the ministerial portfolio.
“To be quite frank, it’s new for me also, because I haven’t been focusing much in this area,” Micah added, “I am walking into an industry that I am yet to fully understand,” He added.
The former public enterprises minister also said priority areas concerning his new portfolio still need to be established.
Former petroleum minister, William Duma now becomes public enterprises minister with the official hand over next week.
“We still need to organize transitional arrangements and we’ll be able to advise the media and public about the things that are priority in line with what the prime minister wants me to do and based on advice from the ministry’s department,” Micah said.
However, Micah emphasized major projects ahead that will guide him in establishing objectives to attain in his tenure as petroleum and energy minister.
“I will be guided by the people in the department, people in the industry and companies like Exxon Mobil in charge of the export of LNG.
I’ll be guided by the company, Total, in the Elk Antelope and other medium projects including working with Kumul Petroleum Holdings,” said Micah.
