PNG Police Chief Gary Baki plans to bring Standard Aptitude Test for Royal Papua New Guinea

PNG Police Commissioner Gary Baki
Plans are underway for the introduction of a Standard Aptitude Test or SAT for the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary.
Commissioner Gari Baki says this will allow for the assessment of the capabilities or educational qualifications of applicants wishing to join the force.
Commissioner Baki said, he intends to increase the training period from 6 months to 18 months where recruits will do six months of basic training, followed by six months of practical training before returning back to the College to do other courses.
He said this is intended to introduce behavioral subjects like psychology, ethics, morality and philosophy so that men and women are exposed to subjects outside of the normal policing they do.
Commissioner Baki also stated that they will now only be recruiting Grade 12s with good grades in all subjects of study.
Meantime Commissioner Baki says he is contemplating the outsourcing of police officers recruitment so that professional recruitment organisations can ensure that there is recruitment of the best into the Constabulary.
