TEACHERS RESUMPTION 2016

The Acting Secretary for Education, Dr. Uke Kombra, PhD has reminded the teachers in all institutions under the National Education System that they must resume duty on Monday 25th January, 2015 and that classes will start for students on Monday 1st February, 2016.
The Acting Secretary has also informed all teachers that they are required by law to complete the Resumption of Duty Summary Sheet (RoDSS) and Teacher Record of Appointment (TROA) on the first day that they resume duty at the school. This activity is important because it will confirm that the teacher has actually resumed duty in a school and position that the National Education Board (NEB) or Provincial Education Board (PEB) has appointed or posted him/her for this school year.
Similarly, filling in of the RoDSS will determine continuity of the teacher’s salary payments for the year. Therefore, it is important that the form is completed properly and correctly on the specified date.
Dr. Kombra stressed that it is important that the Principal, Head Teacher, Manager or the Senior Teacher who is available on site on the first day of the school must check to ensure all entries on the RoDSS are completed properly and correctly by all teachers and are signed. The RoDSS must be forwarded to the Provincial Education Office for teachers in provincial institutions and to the respective Assistant Secretaries at Fincorp Haus for teachers in the national institutions.
He warned that for those teachers, whose RoDSS are not received at Waigani by Friday, 4th March, 2016 will receive their last pay on Pay No. 6, Payday 18th March, 2016.
He also said that for those teachers, whose RoDSS are not received at Waigani by Friday, 11th March, 2016 will be suspended from the payroll automatically on Pay No. 7 or Payday 30th March, 2016.
After the suspension, teachers will be restored on the payroll upon receipt of copies of RoDSS for the teachers affected and lodged by the Provincial Education Adviser.
“No individual teacher will be entertained at PARS and any teacher who delivers the RoDSS personally at PARS will not be entertained”, cautioned the Acting Secretary.
Meanwhile, the Acting Secretary clarified that new graduates from Primary Schools’ Teachers’ Colleges, University of Goroka and the Pacific Adventist University will be placed on the payroll upon receipt of the following documents:
1. Copies of qualification documents;
2. Copy of teacher registration certificate;
3. Duly completed Teacher Record of Appointments (TROA); and
4. Resumption of Duty Summary Sheet (RoDSS).
Dr. Kombra urged all responsible officers involved in the resumption exercise to ensure all the necessary forms are completed, checked thoroughly and lodged at the respective offices on the dates stated for the school year to start smoothly.
He also encouraged the responsible officers in the provinces to obtain detailed information pertaining to 2016 teachers’ resumption from the Secretary’s Circular No. 75/2015 that was forwarded to all the provinces in early January, 2016.
