Bank installs new water tanks for Mt Diamond Secondary

Disruption of classes due to water shortage will be a thing of the past for Mt Diamond Secondary School in Central Province. Bank South Pacific (BSP) through its community project initiative installed and handed over two 9000L Tuffa tanks to the school this recently.

The project was identified, undertaken and completed by staff at BSP Haus Branch at Harbour City. The three week project saw staff assisting with cleaning the site, setting up the foundation, cementing and the installation of the tanks. The tanks and material were transported from Port Moresby to the school; which is about 30 minutes' drive out along the Maggi Highway.

Mt Diamond Secondary School principal, Martin Sepe, stated that they had water shortage problems at the school because there were only two water tanks that served the whole school, the surrounding communities and the Seventh Day Adventist Church, when they hosted their programs at the school ground.

"With the two additional tanks installed; it will be sufficient enough to serve everyone.  More importantly, students staff will have their own water tank to use."

"We sincerely thank BSP for this initiative and contribution to the school," said Principal Sepe.

At the handover presentation, BSP NCD Area Manager Standerd Wai said, the two tanks are a token of BSP's commitment to assisting the community through its community projects.

"We're happy to give back to the community. Clean drinking water and hygiene is a must in schools and communities for the benefit of the students' health and wellbeing." Mr Wai said.
