Potape to seek Court papers against Hela Governor Undialu
Komo-Magarima MP Francis Potape will be seeking the courts advice against the recent appointment by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Inter-Government relations in recognizing Lake Kopiago MP Philip Undialu as the Governor for Hela Province.
Mr Potape has come out firing saying the decision made last Friday (05th of August 2016) was not done transparently as a purported meeting chaired by the assembly clerk to elect Hon. Undialu as Governor was not done in the presence of everyone but only those who had invested interest and agendas.
"The biggest legal question is can a simple assembly clerk chair the provincial assembly meeting when the deputy Governor Thomas Potape is on the ground on the day? This was total disregard of the deputy Governor and no compelling ground for the clerk to chair the meeting." said Komo-Magarima MP Francis Potape.
Popate claimed that last Friday at 11am Hon Philip Undialu and Tari-Pori MP Hon. James Marape attended another purported assembly meeting in Tari and told the people that Philip Undaialu was recognised as Governor and showed the people a one page letter saying this is the paper faxed to us from Kokopo, he questioned that the legitimacy of the faxed paper as the announcement came from Kokopo late in the evening and as the matter is sensitive all parties should have been called in and the matter discussed before made public.
As the leadership tussle continues in Hela the people in the province are calling for a Governor and with the recent developments they will need to wait until their provincial house is in order.
