Planned protest by PNG LNG impact villages looms
The planned protest byPNG LNG impact villages in Central province can be detrimental to the operations of LABA Holdings, the umbrella company of the impacted villages.
Chairman of LABA, Raho Kevau said this in light of a looming protest by frustrated people of Porebada, Boera, Papa and Lea lea tomorrow, over outstanding royalty and equity payments.
According to NBC News, the people of these LNG impact villages are frustrated because they have waited a long time for the Government to honor its promise to pay them, after more than 300 shipments of LNG.
Mr Kevau and other representatives of LABA Holdings, are strongly discouraging the protest.
They have acknowledged the frustrations of the landowners, but they have also urged them to acknowledge the current economic situation faced by the country, and allow the government to deliver when the time is right.
