Armed foreign men not mercenaries, PNG Police say

The Papua New Guinea Police say the two foreign armed  men who have somewhat become social media celebrities overnight are not mercenaries as they have been uncommonly branded; they are part of a unit that are on contract basis under the RPNGC for training purposes.

This was verified by the NCD Police Boss Ben Turi who stated that the two men are part of a six men group who were in the country since the beginning of the year – to conduct SWAT like training for police officers in different units.

The men are police officers of different US states and are not mercenaries or other branded 'soldiers of fortune' says the Met Sup.

As part of commissioner’s strategies to develop Policing standards in the country including combat training and other specialised training programs for police men and women, they will remain until further directives are issued. TVwan/ PNG Today
