Bank of PNG pursues financial inclusion for all
BPNG Governor Bakani |
The aim is to cover as much people in terms of access to financial services like banking and other financial products offered by financial institutions.
This has been achieved so far with the first financial inclusion strategy 2014 to 2015, which brought over 1.2m unbanked people into financial mainstream opening bank accounts in licensed financial institutions, plus introduction and expansion of children/youth savings accounts and more.
The Bank’s Governor Mr. Loi Bakani says the new strategy 2016 to 2020 looks to improve more in this area; this time aiming to reach additional 2M unbanked people of that 50% to be women. PNGFM
