PNG Police farewell Sir Michael Somare
The Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary has given a fitting sent off for Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare, son of a policeman.
The grand parade was hosted at the Bomana Police College, in Port Moresby this afternoon.
Sir Michael in his speech said he was emotional with tears sitting at the stage watching the police officers parade in his honor.
He said his father, Sana walked the bushes and mountains of Baining in East New Britain in the 1940's as a police man.
Sir Michael urged the officers to serve the people and uphold their duty well.
This is the initiative of Police Commissioner Gari Baki, and he said it was fitting and right for someone who united the country under trying circumstances.
Sir Michael inspected the guard of honor in a moving vehicle escorted by Baki.
