Ramu MP Ananias gives K300,000 to MAF for flight subsidies
On the 12th April, the national member for Middle Ramu Electorate – Honorable Jonny Ananias Alonk landed in Mt Hagen to donate the sum of K300,000.00 to MAF. Many Hagen MAF staff gathered in the Hagen Hanger to witness the handover of the money.
This subsidy will be used for flights into the middle Ramu Electorate. The member of parliament has donated the same amount already in 2018, in order to enable MAF to reach isolated people in Middle Ramu. Honorable Jonny Ananias Alonk emphasised in his speech that he sees the need of his people and it is best to address this together with MAF. Since he has been flying with MAF over 20 years, he appreciates our service and collaboration. Also, he is supporting Rural Airstrip Association RAA so that they can build and maintain more airstrips. Four new airstrips are planned for next year, where MAF airplanes could be landing.
The member of parliament handed the check over to MAF Operations Director Doug Miles. Doug Miles thanked the member of parliament and said he indeed understands how to help: in giving money to MAF, he enables us to deliver help to isolated communities. MAF is truly grateful for subsidies like these with which we are able to transport people from Madang, Goroka and Hagen into and out of the presently four airstrips in Middle Ramu. After taking pictures in front of a MAF Twin Otter, the member of parliament and MAF management signed the new agreement.
