PNG Defence Force, BRA to reconcile in June

A national reconciliation ceremony between the National Government through its security forces and factions of Bougainville's Revolutionary Army (BRA) resistance groups has been planned for June 15.

Minister Assisting the Prime Minister on Bougainville Affairs William Samb re-echoed this on NBC's Dabai Talk Show this week.

Mr Samb says this is on advise of the Prime Minister and is in preparation for the Referendum in October.

"The national reconciliation will be held in Panguna with the resistance groups, BRA factions and the national government through the PNG Defence Force and the Police.

"Our team is in the initial stages of planning this event.

"So that's a key thing coming up.

"Having the ceremony people should be able to go into the referendum with bel isi," Minister Samb said.
