PNG Immigration Online Service Generates Mass Revenue

Papua New Guineans and expatriates alike can now benefit from improved visa and passport services online.

The only catch for them to have visa cards and reliable internet connectivity to access this service.

Chief Migration Officer Solomon Kantha demonstrated how this 'Online Payment Gateway' accessible on the PNG Immigration Citizenship Authority
website will enable efficiency and effectiveness for the organization and its clients.

Mr. Kantha explains among this is the e-visa service.
He said the e-visa service enables people from overseas to make visa payments online and getting a receipt processed within five minutes for collection at the nearest PNG mission.

The Chief Migration Officer said since the inception of this service, there has been improved transparency of public monies and cutting out of agents and officers in between.

Where in the past Clients would have waited for five days to have their visas and passport claims attended to, it will now only take five minutes to be processed.

Apart from improved services, massive revenue has been generated through this new service.

Mr. Kantha said with the introduction of this service, the PNG Immigration and Citizenship Authority has been able to generate K91-000 in five days.

He said this is from 135 people signing up for their online visa payment, with 45 orders through the e-visa service.
The PNGICA was assisted by Niugini Online and BSP to set up this system, and they are looking to incorporate the usage of the Kundu card for payments in 2020.
