PNG COVID-19 updates : Five tested Positive to anti-Body Testing

Five people, from mine sites, have tested positive in the anti-body or rapid testings carried out over the weekend.

Acting Health Secretary and Deputy SOE Controller Dr Paison Dakulala revealed this in the COVID-19 update yesterday.

He says the latest as of Sunday 10th May, there were three Hastings Deering workers that travelled to Tabubil last Monday, who have tested positive to the anti-body testing, one OTML staff from Goroka and one Harmony Gold staff also tested positive to anti-body testing.

Dr Dakulala says all five are well, and their samples sent for PCR testing to determine if they have the COVID-19 virus.

PNG has stepped up in its COVID-19 anti-body or rapid testing, which will continue for the next three weeks, till the 02nd of June when the State of Emergency ends.

The government aims to do 12 000 anti-body tests as part of its operational research through its scientific and medical community, who are following up on these tests.

According to Dakulala over the weekend on Saturday 09th and Sunday 10th of May a total of 67 rapid tests were carried out in Tabubil and all were negative.
