University of Papua New Guinea students Support Grand Chief in Prayers
The University of Papua New Guinea's Waigani and Taurama Campuses came to a standstill in a Call to Prayer for our Founding Father, Grand Chief, Sir Michael Thomas Somare, as he confronts his serious medical condition in hospital in Port Moresby.

University Chaplain, Reverend Daryl Boyd, delivered a very touching message to the students and staff that assembled to give spiritual support to Sir Michael, Lady Veronica, and the Somare family in this time of need for strength and unity.
It was fitting that the brief prayer ceremony was held on the steps to the Sir Michael Somare Library at the University's Waigani Campus on Wednesday 24th February.
In a unified show of concern for the Grand Chief, all lecturers held a brief Call to Prayer before commencing their daily lectures around both campuses.
The Chancellor, Robert Igara, CMG, Vice-Chancellor, Professor Frank Griffin, Senior Administration, and Academic staff were present in the Forum Square, together with many out-of-class students to offer their prayers for the well-being of Sir Michael and Lady Veronica.
