Yamasombi outlined that stricter rules would be enforced by joint security forces throughout the SoE period. To ensure public safety, roadblocks will be implemented across the city to prevent the carrying of offensive weapons. Additionally, gatherings of two or more persons in one place will not be permitted at any time.
The Acting Police Commissioner stressed that immediate actions would be taken by police and military personnel if crowds begin to form. Furthermore, he assured that security forces would provide protection for shops throughout the city to safeguard businesses.
In a move to restore normalcy, Yamasombi shared that 400 security forces are currently stationed in the nation's capital, a strategic effort by the National Government to ensure the safety and well-being of the community during this heightened security period.
The public is urged to cooperate with security forces and adhere to the imposed rules, as these measures are implemented with the aim of maintaining a secure environment in Port Moresby. The State of Emergency reflects the government's commitment to addressing prevailing challenges and ensuring the overall safety of the community.
