PNG Air Resumes Operations into Mendi After Seven-Year Hiatus
PNG Air has announced the resumption of its operations into Mendi, a move celebrated as a significant milestone for the airline and the local community. On Monday, April 29th, a proving flight successfully landed at Mendi airport, where it was warmly welcomed by residents.
The official opening of the newly renovated Mendi airport and terminal took place on May 2nd, 2024, marked by the arrival of three PNG Air aircraft. This event signifies the end of a seven-year interruption in service, which had required Mendi residents to travel to neighboring towns to catch flights to Port Moresby.
