New Zealand Allocates Nearly $50 Million for Pacific Fisheries Development

 Twenty-four staff members from the National Trade Office (NTO), including ten women, have completed their Public Service Induction (PSI) training at the Somare Institute of Leadership and Governance (SILAG). The ceremony, held on Friday, marked the successful conclusion of a mandatory one-week program designed to provide foundational knowledge and competencies for new public servants.

The PSI training, required for all public sector employees, offers an introduction to the functions of government and the ethical standards expected in public service. It aims to prepare participants for their roles and responsibilities within the government framework.

Mr. Bui Kandato, Director of the Corporate Service Division at NTO, praised the graduates and expressed appreciation for SILAG's role in facilitating the program. He highlighted the importance of ethical conduct and loyalty in public service, urging participants to lead by example and commit fully to their roles.

In his address, Mr. Allan Kamale, Director of Business Innovations and Strategic Relations at SILAG, underscored the necessity of PSI training in the public sector. Kamale emphasized that PSI is a crucial entry-level qualification for anyone seeking to advance in public service. He encouraged graduates to embrace the ethics and values taught during the program and to reflect on their motivations for serving the public.

Kamale concluded by urging participants to strive for personal excellence and maintain ethical behavior, stating that such efforts are essential for a successful career in public service.
