Disgraced PNG Rugby Boss Kori Chan Faces Lifelong Ban from the Sport
Papua New Guinea Rugby has officially banned Kori Chan, the president of the Capital Rugby Union, from participating in any rugby-related activities within the country. This decision was made by the PNG Rugby Union (PNGRU) board on October 4, following allegations that Chan’s actions brought significant disrepute to the sport and caused embarrassment to the national team.

The PNGRU stated that Chan's conduct contributed to the suspension of PNG Rugby by World Rugby last month, which subsequently barred the national team from competing in international tournaments. Allegations indicate that Chan was involved in a visa issue for the national teams, which prevented them from participating in the World Sevens series in Monaco.
In addition to the visa controversy, PNGRU president Paul Siwi accused Chan of interfering with the auditing process of the union, which was extended and raised concerns with Oceania Rugby. Siwi confirmed that a formal notice of the ban was delivered to Chan, detailing the restrictions imposed.
In his correspondence to Chan, Siwi emphasized the seriousness of the situation, stating, "Given the severity of the situation, the PNG Rugby board has no choice but to take this decisive action to uphold the integrity of the sport and ensure that such incidents do not recur."
As a result of the ban, Chan is prohibited from participating in, attending, or being involved in any rugby activities in Papua New Guinea.
