Prominent Female Lawyer takes out orders against hubby

PROMINENT female lawyer Tiffany Nonggorr has taken out an interim restraining order against her separated lawyer husband Dr John Nonggorr, from carrying out acts of violence and threats towards her pending the determination of her matrimonial proceedings against him.

The orders were issued by the National Court last week following an ex parte application by Mrs Nonggorr.

Mrs Nonggorr confirmed with the Post-Courier that she had to take out these interim orders to protect her from her husband after a recent incident where she alleged that he had tried to run her over in his vehicle after he had gone to pick up his children from her office.

She has laid a complaint with police on that incident.

They are currently separated and she has filed matrimonial proceedings for divorce, maintenance and properties that they both share.

Deputy Chief Justice Gibbs Salika, who presided over the application, ordered that Dr Nonggor and his agents, servants and family members are restrained from carrying out acts of violence against the petitioner; issuing threats of violence, insulting, intimidating and interfering with the petitioner, her family and associates in any manner, shape or form, pending the determination of this proceeding.

They are also restrained from interfering with properties belonging to the petitioner and Nonggorr William Lawyers or Twivey Lawyers in any manner, shape or form.

The matter returns to court on May 7.
