Five suspects involved in brutal killing of a PNGDF soldier apprehended


Five suspects allegedly involved in the brutal killing of a Defence Force Soldier at Kirakira village yesterday, have been apprehended by police and are currently held in custody at the Boroko Police cell.
The five are being interrogated by police.
Yesterday, in retaliation of the death, Soldiers at Taurama Barracks burnt down 9 houses at Kirakira village.
According to police, the soldier died from loss of blood from cuts he received all over his body.
NBC News visited the village yesterday and today, saw that the situation is quiet but still tensed.
The Sabama KilaKila road is still being blocked off by the villagers, leaving only police to access and keeping the area under control.
Police Commissioner Geofrrey Vaki, Member for Moresby South Justine Katchenko, including Defence Force Hierarchies and community leaders visited the Kirakira villages this morning and have held talks with the community there, however outcome of their meeting is not made known.
Meantime, the suspects including two females are being interrogated by CIDs at Boroko police station.
