Kundu 2 and NBC join 2015 Games

The National Broadcast Corporation (NBC) and Kundu 2 television have joined the 2015 Pacific Games broadcasting family (as it’s third broadcast company in PNG) They are the nineth media company in the Pacific who will broadcast the Games beginning on July 4, 2015.

With the broadcast rights, NBC and Kundu will be able to produce up to 16 hours of TV broadcast and will consist of live, delayed coverage and special Games programs.

NBC managing director Memafu Kapera said that with the coming on board of both entities, the people of PNG will be able to hear the games on NBC for those who have no access to television while those with television will be able to watch PNG athletes up against their Pacific counterparts.

"We are privileged to be part of the Pacific Games, we were there during the 1991 Games and today we are coming on board once again to allow our viewers and listeners be a part of the Games experience.

Radio is accessible throughout the country, for those watching and listening, the games will be brought into their living rooms for the two weeks of competition."

Games Organising Committee CEO Peter Stewart said that a total of 1500 hours of broadcast material will be produced by the Games Organising Committee for distribution throughout the country, Pacific and the World.

"Distribution of 1500 hours of broadcast material will be produced by the GOC and distributed across television, satellite, cable, internet and digital phone networks.It will be the largest broadcast in the history of the Games and will bring the Pacific into PNG."

"Kundu 2 will provide a delayed boradcast while NBC will be live,"added Stewart.

The total cost of the sponsorship is K14 million and will be part of a shared broadcast between EMTV, Click TV and NBC/Kundu 2.

Stewart was adamant that due to the days counting down quickly, all venues are currently looking good to be completed on time.

He added that the Pacific Games Committee will be making another visit to PNG in Febuary to check on the progress of the preparations for the Games.

Stewart said that in terms of the 100 day relay, the relay will begin on the March 26 and will be another opportunity to showcase the different cultures, customs and provinces of PNG.
