Villagers clear roadblock, fuel supply to be restored in Port Moresby
Fuel supply into Port Moresby city will be restored after the roadblock on Hanuabada Mainroad was cleared by the villagers after Police Commissioner Jeffrey Vaki successfully negotiated last night .
The roadblock was cleared as there are certain emergencies to address including taking sick to the hospitals, school year beings, fuel shortage in the city and many more..
“Last night there were fore and against arguments on whether they should remove it, and then we talked about the big picture,” Mr Vaki said.
However, the villagers cleared the roadblock on the condition that full investigations must be carried out and they must be compensated in a six weeks period.
Chairman of Hanuabada working committee, the committee that had led the villagers during the chaos in the absence of the mandated leaders, Joshua Ako Kari, said that they don’t quite agree with this as it defeats the whole purpose and wants the interest, the plight and the concerns of the people be addressed.
“Once the six weeks investigation is up and nothing happens from the government, the road blocks will be up again and this is going to be a very serious matter,” Mr Kari said.
Meanwhile, as the roadblock cleared as of last night, motorist can now get fuel from the fuel depot.
