13, 000 ON SCHOLARSHIPS THIS YEAR

Just over 13, 000 students in total are expected to be on TESAS scholarship this year.
That’s the word from the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology Minister Malakai Tabar at the UPNG orientation today.
Minister Tabar outlined that 5, 600 scholarships are for the new students attending all universities and tertiary institutions such as colleges nationwide.
This figures add on to the 6, 200 continuing students on government scholarship scheme.
Tabar further states that this accounts for an increase of 21% in the total number of TESAS scholarships offered from the previous year.
Meanwhile, he also encouraged the first year students to study hard and commit themselves to their education so that they can better contribute back to their societies in the near future, with the skills attained.
