PNG Acting Police Commision Jim Andrews says there is no cover up

Papua New Guinea Acting Police Commissioner, Jim Andrews has come out strongly against critics who have publicly stated that Police are not taking actions against rogue policemen over recent police shootings. He says there are no cover-ups and all policemen who break the law will face the full force of the law.
One policeman had been arrested and charged over the killing of Lae woman Moana Pisimi, another has been arrested and charged with wilful murder of a Tatana man while another police shooting in Wewak should be completed and charges are expected to be laid within the next few days.
As for the Hanuabada Shootings, Andrews’s states that it has been frustrating as witnesses are not coming forward to give their statements.

Meanwhile, Andrews has lashed out again at politicians and the public for bluntly pointing fingers at the police for not carrying out their duties and accused for covering their officers who were found to be breaking the laws by means of police brutality. He made this remarks after reports that the Hanuabada investigations have been frustrated by key witnesses refusing to provide statements to police yet police were continuously blamed for the delays. He called on responsible politicians to assist in the investigations by educating village elders within the Hanuabada community to inform the villagers to come forward and give their statements to help the investigations progress.
