PNG Weather Service Issues Strong Wind warnings

Renewal strong wind warning issued by the PNG National Weather Service valid from 05:00 pm Monday, March 16, 2015 for all coastal waters of Northern PNG/Indonesian border to West/East Sepik to all islands of Madang including New Guinea Islands region.

Monsoon trough lies 13ºs142ºe to tropical cyclone Nathan located near 14.0 degrees south, 149.9 degrees east, approximately 592.8 kilometers southeast of Port Moresby and 485.1 kilometers south of Kupiano and 412.7 kilometers southwest of Alotau.

Movement: east at 13 kilometers per hour.

Warning:

Strong northwest surge of 25/34 knots, with stronger surge reaching 48 knots are expected to continue for the next 24 hours causing rough to very rough seas.

Note: all small crafts and boats are advised to take the necessary precautions before going out to sea.
