United Party remains a key coalition partner in Government : O'Neill

Prime Minister Peter O‟Neill,  says Foreign Affairs Minister Rimbink Pato's United Party is a loyal coalition partner in Government.
He said this at the Party‟s fundraising dinner in Port Moresby last Thursday (12/11/15).
“I am pleased to be here tonight because United Party remains a key partner in our coalition government, despite the numbers.”
“It‟s not about the numbers all the time but it‟s about the quality of the contribution and I thank the United Party Leader, Rimbink Pato who continues to contribute positively to our nations development,” he said.
He said when they were camping to form the O‟Neill-Dion Government in 2012, there was never any doubt that United Party would play a big role in government.
“When we do the distribution of Ministries it‟s all about numbers as many of you who are experienced in politics know. But there are times governments must make appointments based on merits and that is
why United Party was given a Ministry despite not having many numbers on the floor."
“Today we are proud that we have a very competent Foreign Affairs Minister who represents our country in many engagements internationally”, Prime Minister O'Neill said.
The Prime Minister said the Leader of the United Party Rimbink Pato is promoting PNG at the expense of his own electorate.
The Prime Minister said with the support of United Party and other coalition partners, the government is delivering free education, which, people thought was an election gimmick.
“After four years we have got extra 1.2 million kids in schools as the government is determined to educate our children because without education they will never get far,” he said.
Mr O‟Neill also thanked the United Party supporters for attending the fund raising dinner.
