Waipo adamant he is still the CS Commmisioner
Michael Waipo is still adamant that he is the incumbent Correctional Service Commissioner following news from sources two weeks ago with his sacking and the fresh appointment of CSTC Commandant Chief Inspector Benard Nepo.
He said there was no formally notice from the CS Minister Jim Simatab or the National Executive Council on his dismissal when he cites a memo and the new commissioner takes up the post then he will hand over the post following due processes and code of conduct in the Correctional Service.
“As we have learnt in the media according to the minister I have been replaced. Let me tell us all here that I have not received anything formally from the Minister neither have I got any documentation or any instruments related to that or affecting that.”
He said it is the government prerogative to appoint any public official and he will not oppose the NEC’s decision to remove him but he must have a fair chance of knowing the grounds of his dismissal and he must be given the opportunity to answer to any allegations that may be labelled against him.
Waipo in an attempt to prevent a national security threat has ordered the resumption of officers who have broken into factions two weeks ago and have not reported to duty to resumed duties as of 12pm today (09/02/16) failure to follow this directive will result in officers getting suspended and taken off the payroll.
He added that this matter must be addressed with urgency to avoid security threats. However he had advised all the jail commanders to be wary of the situation and protect national security against any threat.
