Pato denies receiving request from Indonesia on extradition of fugitive Joko Tjandra
In Parliament this afternoon, the Minister for Foreign Affairs Rimbink Pato has denied receiving any letter from the Indonesian Embassy on the extradition of fugitive Joko Tjandra or Joe Chan and says his extradition will depend on the completion of certain process by two countries in MOUs and Treaties signed.
He was responding to Deputy Opposition Leader Sam Basil's questions on what sort of arrangement is there between PNG & Indonesia on extraditing fugitives.
Pato says because of this reason it has not taken place until internal processes are complete by PNG & Indonesia, which will take some time due to technicality of things.
PNG signed 8 MOUs & 3 Treaties with Indonesia; one of them is the Extradition Treaty. PNGFM
