Police restrained from arresting Fraud Officers
Director of the National Fraud and Anti-Corruption Directorate Matthew Damaru will continue to carry out his duties and functions to investigate high profile cases as directed by the National Court this afternoon.
Mr. Damaru filed an urgent application seeking leave of the courts to stay criminal proceedings against him before the Committal Court in relation to his arrest last week.
The court granted leave on grounds that Mr. Damaru must continue to perform his duties and enforce the law as a member of the Royal PNG Police Constabulary and not be restrained by police officers.
The national has further ordered that Police be restrained from further arrests on Mr. Damaru and other officers of the National Fraud Squad. PNGFM / PNG Today
