Big Rooster outlet robbed
The Big Rooster fast food outlets of Waigani next to Westpac Waigani and the other one at Erima were the targets of a daring daylight armed robbery today.
Eyewitnesses at the scene say five suspects arrived in a dark green Toyota Hilux at noon today, where four of the suspects disembarked and entered the packed Waigani Big Rooster on foot.
The suspects upon entering held the guard at the door at gun point while the others sounded out the alarm that a robbery was in progress and proceeded to remove mobile phones car keys and wallets of all the customers with one suspect taking out cash from the till and a bag full of coins.
Upon making their getaway the suspects casually walked out of the outlet and in the process of testing the locks of each car that was parked outside two suspects drove away with a White Ford Ranger believed to be a few days old belonging to a corporate company.
Police arrived at the scene ten minutes later, however while all the attention was at the Waigani outlet the same suspects drove to Erima and repeated their daring actions at the Big Rooster Erima outlet.
It is unclear how much was taken but no employee or customers were hurt during both robberies, however there is a need to be vigilant and security conscious as we move into the silly season. PNGFM/PNG Today
