Rugby League : PNG Digicel Cup launched
The 2019 season of the Digicel Cup Competition in PNG was launched in Port Moresby on Wednesday.
While the semi professional competition retained its 9 franchises from last year, there will be two new teams for this season, including the return of a former participant.
The new teams are West New Britain's Kimbe Cutters and Vitis Central Dabaris, while Wamp Nga Mount Hagen Eagles have returned after a three-year suspension, following their disgraceful violent grand final performance against the Rabaul Gurias in 2016.
Speaking on behalf of the Sports Minister and the Primer Minister, Public Enterprise and State Investment Minister, William Duma, says the government remains committed to supporting rugby league in the country.
