Police Warns Port Moresby City residents to return looted Items

In a stern announcement today, the Port Moresby Police are calling on the city residents  and Central Province who have taken part in looting activities to promptly return the stolen items within a specified timeframe.

State of Emergency (SOE) Controller and Acting Commissioner of Police, Donald Yamasombi, implored individuals in possession of looted properties to surrender them immediately to the nearest police station. Failure to comply with this directive will result in appropriate legal action being taken by the SOE Controller.

Within the next few hours, detailed guidelines pertaining to the State of Emergency will be publicly disclosed. These guidelines will empower security personnel to enforce SOE directives with precision and efficiency.

While law enforcement has already initiated efforts to recover looted items, citizens are strongly encouraged to cooperate by voluntarily returning stolen goods to the respective looted establishments. Specifically, those in possession of stolen items from Brian Bell are urged to bring them back to the warehouse yard in Gerehu, where a significant portion of the looted merchandise was tragically set ablaze.

The urgency of this appeal underscores the gravity of the situation, and residents are reminded that failure to comply with the directive may result in severe consequences. The community's cooperation is crucial in restoring order and ensuring a swift resolution to the recent incidents of looting in the region. Stay tuned for further updates as the situation develops.
