Injury Woes for PNG Kumuls: Ipape and Max Out of Pacific Championships
Papua New Guinea's Kumuls have faced significant challenges ahead of their Pacific Championships match against Fiji Bati. Star player Edwin Ipape has been ruled out of the tournament due to an injury that requires surgery. He will undergo surgery and rehabilitation during the Super League off-season.
Khaiya Waiembi has also been sidelined after suffering an injury during training for the Prime Minister's XIII. Scan results are pending to determine the extent of the injury. Additionally, Alex Max is out of the Pacific Championships after breaking his hand in the Prime Minister's XIII match.
To fill the gaps, Morea Morea and Robert Mathias have been called into the squad. Both players have traveled with the team to Fiji for their game against Fiji Bati, set for Saturday, October 19, 2024.
