Mr. Seddon stressed that Air Niugini plays a vital role as a key enabler of both domestic and international travel. He noted that in a geographically diverse and remote country like PNG, where many regions are only accessible by air, a robust airline service is essential for the success of tourism.
As part of the fleet modernization program, Mr. Seddon mentioned that Air Niugini has been expanding its domestic and international routes to better connect tourists and business travelers to important destinations. This initiative aligns with the airline’s broader strategy to modernize its operations and prepare for the arrival of new aircraft.
The introduction of the new A220 aircraft is expected to significantly enhance Air Niugini's services. Mr. Seddon explained that these aircraft will not only provide more reliable flights but also allow the airline to service smaller airports more efficiently, opening up new tourism opportunities across PNG.
Mr. Seddon added that the modernization will reduce the overall cost of air travel, making it easier for tourists to visit Papua New Guinea and for local businesses to move around the country. This, he said, will contribute to the long-term growth of the nation’s tourism industry.
