PNG Government urged to reduce tax on second hand vehicles
The government should reduce taxes on second hand vehicles, work vehicles and machines vital in moving people, cargo, Deputy Opposition leader and Bulolo MP Sam Basil said.
Basil said second-hand vehicles, three tonne trucks, four-wheel-drive vehicles and heavy machinery such as tractors must be subsidised or given special rates when it comes to taxation and tariffs because they were used mainly in the delivering and implementation of government development projects and business.
He said on the other hand, luxury vehicles should be heavily taxed to reduce congestion on the city roads.
“We must reduce tariff and tax on second hand vehicles.”
