SP PNG HUNTERS NAME TEAM FOR ROUND 14 CLASH WITH SOUTHS LOGAN MAGPIES
The SP PNG Hunters will relish the opportunity to have at least an extra day to prepare for Saturday’s Round 14 clash against Souths Logan Magpies.
The Hunters will relocate to Kokopo this Thursday to be permanently based in the East New Britain township following the shifting of camp from Bomana Police College, which has been home for the last six months.
While the Hunters have called Kokopo home, being based in Port Moresby, they have had to fly in the day before each Saturday’s game and the continuous travel has been quite taxing on them.
However, they have shown great character and perseverance to stay in touch with the Intrust Super Cup leaders to be now placed in fourth position on 17 points going into Round 14.
Now being relocated to Kokopo means the Hunters can enjoy uninterrupted preparations right up to match day for their remaining home games.
Coach Michael Marum has made some slight changes to his side due to niggling injuries but named the usual number of 20 players from which he will pick his playing 17.
Right centre Albert Patak has been shifted to fullback to cover for Adex Wera, who has still been named the 20-member squad.
Also named in the squad is Thompson Teteh, who missed last Saturday’s grinding 16-12 win over the Central Queensland Capras in Gladstone, due to a badly corked thigh and is still under an injury cloud for this weekends game. Both players will be assessed later in the week.
The squad with two to be omitted for the 2.30pm match is:
1. Albert Patak
2. Garry Lo
3. Noel Zeming
4. Buiku Tiger Emere
5. Edward Goma
6. Israel Eliab ©
7. Roger Laka
