Virgin Australia ups Port Moresby service

VIRGIN Australia, previously Pacific Blue, has announced it will increase direct services between Port Moresby and Brisbane.

This decision the company says is due to strong demand from the leisure and corporate sectors which it said not only includes Australian based PNG Nationals visiting family and friends.

It said as of July 6, 2014 an additional return service will be added, increasing the overall flights from five to six per week.

All services between Port Moresby and Brisbane are operated by the airline’s 176-seat Boeing 737-800 aircraft. These aircraft are also fitted with complimentary wireless in-flight entertainment providing access to 300 hours of movies, TV shows and audio.

"Virgin Australia is pleased to add this additional service to ensure business and leisure travellers have greater choice and competition on this route," the company said in a statement.

Over the last six years, the airline has operated over 2500 flights between Australia and Papua New Guinea. The new flight will depart Port Moresby at 2pm arriving into Brisbane at 5.10pm on Sundays.

The fares as announced is K495 one way (inclusive of taxes)

"T&Cs available online: www.virginaustralia.com." it stated.
