NCD GOVERNOR POWES PARKOP ASSIST WOMEN'S BANK

National Capital District Governor, Powes Parko has pledged 300-thousand Kina to the first ever Women's Micro Bank of PNG.
At the official opening ceremony of the new bank yesterday (Friday 16th of August), governor Parkop presented the first 150-thousand Kina to the bank's Chief Executive Officer.
The other half will be given at a later date.
Mr. Parkop said this funds will be made available for grassroots women to access through loans.
When thanking the women for their initiative in setting up their bank, the NCD Governor urged them to make use of the bank and tap into bigger business and not to stick to betelnut and cigarette selling.
He said the bank is a great opportunity for PNG women, and he would like to see women actively participate in the economy, as stipulated in Vision 2050.
