By Sonja Ramoi
A double murder occurred in Wabunaga village, Magarima, Hela province reportedly over pork meat.
It is believed that a man described as a 'hired gunner from Munia village, Lai valley, SHP' murdered his brother-in-law because of a dispute over pork meat early yesterday evening.
The 'hired gunner' reportedly murdered his brother in-law 'for not giving him the share of pork meat as he expected yesterday afternoon at about 6.30pm' a source said. In retaliation it has been alleged that the 'in-laws' of the murdered man chopped the murderer into pieces.
It is understood that Police engaged in Hela tribal operations promptly attended to the matter this morning and established their findings of the double murder.
The suspects believed to be responsible for killing the murderer, described as the hired gunner who allegedly murdered his brother-in-law over a share of pork meat, are reportedly still at large and the situation between Munia village where the 'hired gunner' comes from and Wabunaga villagers is still tense.
"The remains of both deceased are still at Wabunaga village. They will not be buried till peace negotiations is established between the two villages" the source said.
