PNG Police Commissioner Baki calls on Mt. Diamond rape victim to lay complaint
No report has reached the Police Headquarters on the alleged rape incident of a female student by fellow Mt Diamond Secondary School students in Central Province.
Although, Police Commissioner Gari Baki said he heard of the alleged incident on social media on the weekend, a formal complaint by the victim must be made to the police.
A video of the alleged rape by students was posted on facebook and has gone viral sparking public outrage for immediate intervention by police.
Commissioner Baki was of the same view as NCD’s Metropolitan Superintendent Andy Bawa that the rape victim ought to put in a complaint, otherwise nothing can be done.
“There’s got to be a formal complaint, if there is no formal complaint, you can do as much as you want on your investigations, but if somebody is not heard and does not lay a complaint, we are wasting our time,” said Mr. Baki. PNGFM
