Arrest of PNG's Attorney General Ano Pala imminent

Papua New Guinea's  Attorney General Ano Pala is likely to be arrested by Fraud Squad after his  interim stay application was rejected by the  Supreme Court.

Mr. Ano Pala went to the courts to prevent  a warrant of arrest issued for his arrest by a district court .  The warrant of arrest  was issued in July 11 last year on information laid before that Court by the Director National Fraud and Anti Corruption Directorate Chief Superintendent Matthew Damaru.

Pala is alleged to have conspired with Finance Minister James Marape, Prime Minister Peter O’Neill and others to defeat the course of justice in the Paul Paraka investigations.

The warrant can be executed by police as per the District court’s order anytime.
