Mining Waste Management in PNG
Better management of mining waste will not only protect our environment from harmful chemicals, be instils confidence in the people of mining operations in Papua New Guinea.
This is from the Managing Director of the Conservation and Environment Protection Authority, Mr Gunther Joku in an interview after the MoU signing with JICA this morning.
Mr. Joku said the aim of the MoU is to beef up the capacity level of the Mineral Resource Authority, them and other organisations tasked with monitoring mining waste in the country by allowing Japan to provide training and technology for better monitoring of mining waste activities.
Meantime, he added that after the five year project with JICA, they hope to also have a proper mining waste policy created by then.
