Juffa welcomes new Police Commander to Oro
NORTHERN Provincial Police Commander Chief Inspector Lincoln Gerari has assured the people of Oro that he would address law and order to the best of his abilities.
Chief Inspector Gerari who was transferred from Gulf recently said this while being officially welcomed by Oro Governor Gary Juffa on Friday (13/11/15).
Gerari who also hails from Oro said he was not new to the province having served there previously adding he was pleased to work with the Governor who was prepared to deliver change.
Governor Juffa has already build police single barracks and delivered vehicle for police last year and was committed to do more to eradicate crime and lawlessness in the province once and for all.
Juffa said his office would this time allocate special grants to police to be kept in some form of trust to attend to issues affecting women and children.
“If there is a complaint raised or attack on women and children in the province, police would use these funds to quickly attend to such crimes,” he said.
He asked the PPC also to attend to street selling in the town areas and address overloading on PMV trucks moving in and out of the provincial capital.
Chief Inspector Gerari said he has already prepared a work schedule to address such issues and would be out in force as soon as possible towards Christmas and New Year.
Governor Juffa has welcomed the presence of Deputy Commissioner Southern Command Allan Kundi and making ensuring the smooth running of the Ijivitari by-election.
He said Mr Kundi has been a career officer and his presence in the Southern Region has brought confidence in the force as well as the people in the region.
Juffa also thanked the former PPC Chief Inspector Jacob Singura for his commitment and dedication to making sure law and order in the province was kept at bay.
“We are very grateful for having to work with you as PPC in the past years and wish you success in your new posting while we officially welcome Gerari on board as our new PPC,” said Juffa.
He said Popondetta once branded as cowboy town is no longer going to carry that tag adding his role as Governor was to ensure that people move about openly and proudly as human beings free to exercise their rights to live without fear and intimidation.
He said crime and lawlessness only adds to suppression of freedom and these can be managed by the people if they cared to respect the simple rules and laws that governs their existence.
